Gyurcsány reveals he’s just like everyone else, rides the BKV without paying

bkv-ticket-machine.jpgFormer prime minister Ferenc Gyurcsány, one of Hungary’s wealthiest, can now add fare-dodging to his résumé, as cameras for mandiner.hu spotted him getting on the underground without canceling his ticket this past weekend after the gay pride parade, blikk.hu reports. According to Gyurcsány, he was under the impression that his entourage would take care of it, but since they didn’t, he wired Ft 24,000 to the BKV to pay the fine for himself and his wife, no doubt wishing he was still in a position to make life complicated for the folks over at Mandiner.

  1. What a great guy this Gyurcsany character must be.
He takes responsibility for his actions, doesn’t he? You gotta love him.

and nearly a million people still voted for his party at the last election…unbelievable.

  3. mc says:

Hey, I am not everybody else and I am not like Gyurcsany because I
actually pay to ride the BKV. Where are the good libel laws when
    you need them?!?!

  4. Farkas László says:

The interesting thing about this anecdote is that he is using public transportation at all. As a recent PM, he is among the elites, and elites throughout the world seldom take buses and trains.

  5. Law says:

The reason he took the underground metro was because it was the only safe way out of the Poof parade..

  6. Farkas László says:

Perhaps he takes trains to “network” among the BKV people. Many BKV workers got thier jobs and promotions thanks to Gyurcsány and his party, and his mere presence would be a reiminder of that to many. Grurcsány headed a governmental apparatus that had knew people’s dirty secrets and offences, and the BKV staff know that very well. He should get a nice reception!
Maybe it’s just a guy taking a train and nothing else, and then maybe it’s a strategy for building a power base for MSZP resurgence.

  7. Rolrox says:

I thought he didn’t use public transport as he
prefers to “run” everywhere in the city, showing up
his minders. Perhaps he not only lacked a BKV pass
or ticket, but also his running shoes?
