Jobbik and the remains of the Free Democrats have come together in Nagykőrös to support Ambrus Ványi in a bid to unseat current Fidesz mayor Szabolcs Czira, index.hu reports. Ványi, who does not have a party affiliation, is independent enough for the Free Dems and religious enough for Jobbik. According to the article, this mirrors the situation in Esztergom where the three parliamentary opposition parties have aligned themselves against Tamás Meggyes of Fidesz.

Interesting link. A related question, what are the rules in Hungarian politics re double/triple jobbing (ie a politician being an MP/councillor/Mayor simultaneously)?
You would have thought being an MP should be enough of a full-time occuaption to prevent you from also running a district or town; here apparently not.

None, except that the President of the Republic should not be an MP or have any side-jobs, like being President for the Republic’s Olympic Committee
I voiced that specific restriction (MPs should not be Mayors, type of) one or two years ago
So far only Jobbik has listened of the Parliamentarian Parties and demanded that in the Parliament
