Socialist campaign chief demands details on budget

The cabinet must reveal its plans now, not after the October 3 local elections, and should clarify whether it intends to support next year’s budget through austerity measures or in some other way, Socialist campaign chief Tibor Szanyi told reporters on Wednesday.

Hungary is veering toward a national financial disaster as money markets respond to the government’s economic policy with the weakening of the forint, Szanyi warned.

The government is not doing its job and constantly “flip-flops” while Hungarian families have used up all their savings and will soon be unable to meet loan payments, he added.

when I do google search on any of the sites associated with
the All Hungary Media Group (caboodle, politics.hu, etc.), I
get a warning that the site may harm my computer.
I am typing this from an iPad so I am not worried. But I will
not visit from my other machines until this issue is dealt with.

  6. Cináed says:

I’ve been getting a warning too.

  7. Farkas László says:

Do you guys have anti-virus software installed?

  8. wolfi says:

    @Erik and all:
Firefox and google still tell me :
    This is an attacking website!
There is a trojan going round
@FL: It is not my antivirus program – google has marked all sites from alhungary as dangerous.
At this time chew.hu etc are all still marked …

Why do you believe the mainstream theology? Is there not a posibility that the bible has been tampered with? Jesus just may be not a Jew, because much of Orthodox Christianity has been infiltrated by Jews to place theie race in the spotlight, hmmmm do consider this posibility, you maybe being mislead, just an observation i’ve made. Also why are you so against the Moslems? didn;’t the Jews have major imput to what has happened to the middle east? And to finish it off, much of your views do have a Zionist slant to it , they’re goals are to stir up the Christians and Moslems to fight while they sit back and rack in the money and maintain power, unless you are trying to keep the Jews still in Palestine to keep them out of Europe, may this be your reasoning behind the anti moslem writings? Hitler supported the Zionists, becuase he wanted them out of Germany, hmmm… May this may be why you are supporting Zionists ;-) )

  10. Cináed says:

FL: Yes…it’s my anti-virus programme that is
giving me “Threat Blocked” messages. Also, google
chrome keeps telling me the websites are suspect.

  11. Farkas László says:

    Hi Cinead,
It might be a good idea to go to your anti-virus program and run a sweep. I’m going to do that too.

  12. Cináed says:

FL: Yeah, it scans everyday. I think perhaps I
    should do a backup too.

  13. Anonymous says:

I just switched to Internet explorer – which of course doesn’t know and doesn’t care about any risks …
Let’s hope Erik and his people can clear this up soon!

I have got malware warnings now from google, google
chrome, firefox and kaspersky. Notice also how the
last posted news story is from yesterday, by now we
would have got Friday’s stories up.
So clearly something is up, and they are spending
their time trying to remedy it.

  15. wolfi says:

malware warnings still from firefox, google etc.
realdeal has new postings though …
PS: That last anonymous was me.

  16. Bystander says:

    Re: MALWARE Warnings etc.
A friend of mine who administers a WordPress based
site had the exact problem that is appearing here
    on Politics.hu…
What appears to happen is that there is a
vulnerability in PHP itself that is being
exploited (also common on Joomla sites
apparently). I think this is caused by the
spammers (like the Ter-m Pa-per people) who
actually have code that modifies the actual PHP
    files somehow.
My friend said that so far he has been able to
(only temporarily) cure the problem, by wiping out
all the PHP pages (while keeping the full
database, which isn\’t affected) and simply
restoring the original versions of the pages.
The site will get re-infected eventually but you
(Erik I mean) should be able to cure this for
awhile by restoring to \’clean\’ versions of the PHP
    content (e.g. in WordPress).
Maybe PHP itself will come out with a new version
that will cure the vulnerabilities but in the
meantime I guess we have to deal with it…?
The good news is that I haven\’t heard anything
about USER\’s computers being compromised… only
the servers where the pages come from. But I
wouldn\’t bet a million dollars on it.
Too bad, cause there was some nice real dialogue
happening here lately! Hopefully this will all be
    over soon…

  17. justasking says:

Okay folks, need some help in understanding what is going on. I have not had any ‘warnings’ etc and not a clue what you guys are talking about.
Hell, I thought that ‘firefox’ was a band from the 70′s.
I called my ‘elusive’ husband, and he told me that some kind of ‘sweep’ is done every-night on our computer. It ‘detected and deleted’ some kind of ‘spyware (?)’ today…what exactly does this mean?
As well, what is the big deal with the people who are advertising essay writing etc? What do you all mean by/what are ‘spammers’?

  18. wolfi says:

    @justasking:
You probably are using IE (Internet explorer) to access the web, while most of the pople her use other b rowsers like firefox or chrome or safari(on Macs) which have more security build in.
Just search for “politics.hu” on google and you should get some basic inf on the problem.
PS: I would also advise you to switch from IE to firefox or another browser – ask some friend with computer knowledge about it.

  19. Farkas László says:

    Hi Zsuzsa,
It sure sounds frustrating! Apparently some people were trying to access this site through google, and google caught a server problem. I access this site through a drop down menu in the address bar, so like you, I’m not having a problem.
Spyware is a program that enters your system, and it’s purpose is to reveal your internet usage to someone. This can be for both commercial and malicious purposes.
Anti-virus programs are supposed to capture such junk. Keep your AV software current with updates, because the mice keep changing and evolving, so must the mousetrap! “Sweeps” can be manually activated in your AV program, and it is a good idea to do so regularly.
“Firefox” is an alternative to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Computer geeks consider Firefox to be more secure. You can download it.
“Spam” is unsolicited, mass emailed messages, usually for a commercial purpose. These awful term paper postings on this site are an example of it.

  20. Bystander says:

    JA,
And just because (Microsoft) Internet Explorer –
    the big blue \”e\” logo — doesn\’t \”complain\” about
hitting this site, doesn\’t mean it is fine… In
fact that is an indication of the LACK of security
you are experiencing with your (probably old
    version) of IE.
The fact that people with other browsers at least
see a WARNING when hitting politics.hu is an
indication that there is a little security going
on, but don\’t take the fact that your browser is
\”blind\” to the problem to mean that you are
\”safer\”… actually the contrary is true, you are
LESS safe with IE. It is possible that a brand-
new version of IE (version 8?) might show the same
warning as we on other browsers get, but I don\’t
    know.
I have heard that if you do online banking or
other secure stuff on your computer that you are
safer with Firefox (not the band, funny
reference!) or Chrome than un-safe IE… That may
have changed with version 8, but better safe than
    sorry!
Hope Erik and Co. find some workaround… This
problem is all OVER the web/blogs, so it isnt
really the fault of Erik, this is a new exploit (I
think of the PHP language used in blogs all over
the web) from what Ive been hearing.

  21. justasking says:

    @ Wolfi, Laci and Bystander,
Hey thanks for the info guys. I called my husband back and told him about what you all said.
He informed me that we have ‘e 8′ and he has shut off the warning thingy because he found it annoying and has set up our anti-virus program to automatically deal with this kind of stuff.
He suggested that if I was still concerned, do another ‘scan’ and he’ll look into it more when he gets home.
Laci, I have politics.hu in my favorites. That’s okay right?

  22. olga says:

    @ Bystander
I started having problems with both Firefox and IE as far as this website is concerned plus I posted something on another thread to Bob that appeared twice and did not pick up typos – usually it’s underlined when I make a mistake which happens a lot becauseI type with looking at the key board and rely on spell check
I am sure Erik and Co are working on the glitch.

  23. Farkas László says:

    Hi Zsuzsa,
“Favorites” is good too. I don’t come in through google.

  24. wolfi says:

This malware scare seems to have brought a drastic reduction in traffic – some of the “usual suspects” have disappeared completely …
May I wish that it stays that way ?

  25. Pete H says:

Wolfi, perhaps they are afraid Mossad will install software on
    their computers.

  26. olga says:

    @ Pete H
How do you explain my turning on the computer this morning and Israel’s National Anthem was playing instead of the usual sounds of Microsoft loading?
    Coincidence? I think not.
Hope you had a good time in Hungary – I remember you were looking for “cages” but I guess it never happened.

  27. wolfi says:

    @olga:
That music you heard was the secret code for google and firefox to suppress their warnings – now politics.hu and its sister sites are “free of malware” again – but who knows what evil lurks in the heart of software …
I wonder how many visitors Erik will have next week – and what kind of comments will come …
Hopefully everybody had a nice weekend – we’re off to the csárda now …
At least nothin “big” happened on the eleventh!

  28. olga says:

    @ Wolfi
Hope you had fun at the Csarda – I am staying away because I am busy not because of the “anthem”
Plus my tin hat prevents the viruses from coming
    Any bets for October 3rd?

  29. Law says:

@Bobcountrybunker Are the Ashkenazim Jews the
    descendants of the biblical Hebrews?

  30. wolfi says:

Law is back – with one of his really relevant questions regarding Hungarian politics …
    I’m so happy …
So – back to “normal” …
PS: I’d have written “The bitch is back” – but justasking might not have liked that …

  31. Bystander says:

    Law,
Are you the descendant of a horse? After all it’s
    your name, right?

  32. justasking says:

    @Bystander,
Aah, um…horse is ‘lo’ in Hungarian not ‘Law’

  33. Someone says:

    “Csikós” means…..?

  34. Bystander says:

Guessing his friends called him “Lo”? Which became
    “Law”? Just a theeeory….

  35. wolfi says:

That was one of the first English words I learned – actually Wrangler is still my favorite jeans brand after almost 50 years …

  36. Bystander says:

Yeah, Wolfi I remember those jeans too — haven’t
seen em in awhile State-side though… Whatever
    happened to “Toughskins”?
Just a side note on the name-thing/”horseman”-
    “wrangler”, there’s a neo-Yiddish expression for men
who don’t like women (not that there’s anything
    wrong with being Gay -TM-):
    Tuchus-wrangler
    (“Tushy-wrangler”)

  37. justasking says:

    @Bystander,
I’m well aware of what ‘csiko’ means. And that is not Laci’s last name.
Pending on how the last ‘o’ on csikos/Csikos is written, determines it’s definition.
Csikos means stripes or in this case Csikos means ‘wrangler’ or ‘cowboy’.
How you made that leap of a ‘wrangler’ or ‘cowboy’ being descendants from horses….? I’m sure you were trying to make some kind of point.
    @Wolfi,
Years ago, I too used to wear Wrangler jeans. I ditched them along with my first husband :D D
