Left-wing protesters against welfare spending cuts

About 70 left-wing demonstrators gathered in Budapest on Wednesday to protest against the austerity measures triggered by the international economic crisis.

The protest, held in front of the Budapest office of the International Monetary Fund, formed part of a European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) initiative involving strikes and demonstrations by left-wing organisations all over Europe.

Green Left leader and philosopher Miklos Gaspar Tamas said that dismantling the “capitalist regime”, which created a divide between working people and prosperity, would be a common interest of all sober-minded people.

Gustav Mesiah, founder of Attac France, blamed the neoliberal economic policies initiated by the World Bank, the IMF and the World Trade Organisation 30 years ago for the current crisis.

    @Farkas Laci,
I didn’t know where to add this just in-case you did not hear…Tony Curtis died.

well, not that I am a fan of the world bank and
IMF and the way they operate, but whenever I see
people talking about those ‘evil neo-liberals’ and
their ‘capitalist regime’ I wonder if they
actually have any idea what they are talking
about. I know that I’ve never been able to get any
coherent answer out of any of the extremely vocal
‘contributors’ here as to exactly what it was that
they were fighting against and why. I also wonder
what they would replace evil capitalism with if
they did manage to get rid of it. What are the
alternatives? A command economy? No economy? Shall
we go back to bartering with pigs, sea-shells and
    shiny things?

    money.”

Who is Tony Curtis? He is ancient and irrelevant just like the thinking of these protestors. So why cover it? Bastard beckoning for handouts will always be around, no news here.
