Mesterházy says Gyurcsány’s initiatives benefit Fidesz at the MSZP’s expense

Former Socialist Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány’s recent initiatives – including an intra-party referendum, and his floating of a “Democratic Party” – benefit governing party Fidesz, Attila Mesterházy, chairman and Parliamentary caucus leader of the Socialist Party (MSZP), said in an interview with portal origo.hu.

Mesterházy said he believes it is good for Fidesz if voters think the MSZP is only concered about its internal affairs.

Mesterházy stressed he did want change within the party but would use different methods, and focus on action rather than talk.

He added he spoke with Gyurcsány about these matters, but the former party chairman was convinced the steps were in the interest of the party.

    I would not be surprised if Gyurcsány is on Fidesz pay roll , he sure acts like he is , would be better if he just slithered away and hid under a rock.

    Gyurcsany can’t be bought with money. At least not with small change. Not because he’s honest, but because he’s rich. He got his slice of the stolen pie early, so he’s not hungry for money, he’s hungry for power. He’s the goofy, delusional elephant in a china store. He needs some strong medication for his attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and he’ll be fine.

    @Procastinator:
    He’s doing such a great job now! This is what’s called a “loose cannon”, actually he was always that, and he’s going to sink the MSZP ship. Hurray!
    Anyway, I suspect you used to be a fan to him to some extent and you were laughing when some Fidesz politician called him a “lottery jackpot”. :)

  4. Procastinator says:

    nope never liked him , never voted for him, never would , ( the only reason I voted in the last election was because everyone knew that Fidesz would win big and I thought there should be some counterbalance not that that helped :-)
    since I do think any democratic country needs at least two parties and no one should have absolute power , power corrupts absolute even more so . people need to be kept in check , but I really would not mind if he vanished and someone more normal would take his place

  5. Leto says:

    I completely agree on that two party principle. What I do reject utterly and completely is that MSZP(-SZDSZ), or anything related to them, should be one of these. MSZP(-SZDSZ) delenda est.

    Fairy Barbar. Such an accurate description of the fizzy drink hyper-idiot, Gyurscany Ferenc.
    In fact, it was rumored on this very site a year and a half ago that the power-mad politician had been in some institution or other for the mentally impaired.
    Pity he wasn’t held there on a permanent basis for his own safety, and ours!
