The prosecutor’s office has questioned former finance minister Tibor Draskovics and former Socialist MP Imre Karl as witnesses in a case involving nuclear power plant Paksi Atomerőmű.
The office suspects Paksi Atomer m of paying Ft 48 million for a “worthless study” when Draskovics was chairman of the state electricity company MVM and when Karl was a board member. It ordered a study from Esplanada Hungary Tanácsadó about the possibilities of expanding the reactor in 2008, Kossuth Rádió reported.
The Paksi Atomer m deputy managing director, who signed the commission contract and verified its completion in February, 2008, is suspected of misuse of funds.
The national bureau of investigation is investigating another ten MVM contracts.
