Police look at Gyöngyöspata finances

Heves county police have ordered an inquiry into the finances of the town of Gyöngyöspata on suspicion of negligent use of funds.

The inquiry is based on a report to police by the State Audit Office, which found evidence of misuse of funds in connection with subsidies extended by the local council to non-profit organisations, churches and other entities.

Mayor Oszkár Juhász of Jobbik told Népszabadság that he welcomes the inquiry, as it relates to the period before he was elected mayor, and neither he nor his party is involved.
