Problems seen for proposal to scrap pensions of communist-era leaders

Revoking or modifying the pensions of leaders in Hungary’s communist-era government – as proposed by Fidesz MP Mária Wittner last week – will be problematic, writes Index.

Questions raised by the portal are: Who count as leaders of the previous system? How can they be found? By how much their pension should be reduced?

The article suggests that Parliament will have to answer these questions if they want to create a usable law that can pass the constitutionality test.

Problems are to be solved. They are going to solve them. According to some recent poll, about 70% of people support this idea (and about 70% of MSZP voters oppose it)

“64 percent support the initiative, daily Magyar Nemzet reported on Friday”
“Some 48 percent of Socialist voters opposed the plan to reduce the pensions of former Communist leaders and even 21 percent of Fidesz supporters said they were against it”
    .
Funny how different the numbers look when you actually check them…
We are now awaiting those “21 percent of Fidesz supporters” to have extra tax put on their pensions, then we can just assume *why* they oppose it…
