Five-member panel formed to examine charges President plagiarized thesis

A five-member panel has been formed to study allegations that President Pál Schmitt’s doctoral thesis was plagiarised.

Miklós Tóth, dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Science at Semmelweis University, said he will only reveal the names of the members after they have completed their report on March 28, in order to ensure unbiased and smooth work.

Tóth expressed hope that answers reassuring for the public will be provided.

The panel members are well-versed in foreign languages, law, sports and social sciences, he added.

Tóth said it is conceivable that foreign experts might be involved later.
