Quotable: Zoltán Kovács on the “unique opportunity” of the government’s parliamentary supermajority

“We had a unique opportunity to resolve problems that should have been resolved right after the fall of communism.”

Oh all right then. Thanks for clearing that one up, Zoltan. There will be no further debate on the matter.

He is right, they had a unique opportunity. Problem is that they have not resolved anything. Society is more divided than ever, unemployment is high and rising, foreign investment is minimal, the tax system is more complicated by the day, government expenditure is running out of control and corruption is as bad as ever. Opportunity squandered.

    • Focus on the bigger picture

Unique opportunities in very troubled times. Lets add a couple of words.
Societies in the EU are more divided than ever, unemployment is high and rising, foreign investments are minimal because most of the other countries are facing some levels of insolvency as well, the tax system is more complicated day by day because there are less people working, those that are working are earning a less net and thus paying less into the system, government expenditure is running out of control because everyone is scrambling to protect their dwindling positions (survival of status).
EU reality check = Forcast of continued danger in the recovery/reform programs.
Opportunities squandered = one step forward then two steps back.
What next? Must move forward, the alternative really sucks.

Here goes another unique opportunity. :)

Hungary has won a 50 billion HUF international tender of CERN and Europe’s biggest capacity data transfer center will be built here.
