Defense Ministry report calls weapons transfer to police during 2006 riots “unlawful”

Minister of Defense Csaba Hende said on Tuesday it was unconstitutional and unlawful for the army to transfer weapons to police during the anti-government riots of 2006 and a report on this had been submitted to the prosecutor’s office.

Hende, who initiated the inquiry, said the weapons were transferred to police on verbal instructions by then Defense Minister Imre Szekeres, of the opposition Socialists, and former Chief of Staff Andras Havril.

Of the tear gas grenades and grenade launchers transferred, some 106 grenades were not returned to the army warehouses, so these were probably used by police, the report states.

Hende said the value of the weapons used totalled 1.3 million forints and this was never paid by police.

Of the tear gas grenades and grenade launchers transferred

    So, no “weapons”
Tear gas is used by basically every Police Force in the world, big “crime”….

But maybe the right form was not filled in, which of course make a big difference

I don’t think, anybody really cares of the spent grenades or their price, no.

I think they desperately searching some handle on the people in charge that time, hoping that someone pointing a finger straight to the former PM, enough for indictment.
It’s getting way too embarrassing, that after all these years nothing substantial – Mr.Orban can’t sleep well as long as his – so far – greatest adversary still at large, you know.
