Holocaust memorial vandalized in Nagykanizsa

The metal branches of a large menorah standing in front of a Holocaust memorial in the courtyard of the Jewish religious community of Nagykanizsa, SW Hungary, were broken off by unidentified perpetrators last weekend, the Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary told MTI on Monday.

The seven-branched lampstand is an ancient symbol of the Jewry. The memorial was erected by the local Jewish community in 2004.

Police investigation is under way.

“Jewry” doesn’t require the definite article.

Yawn. I thought the regime had already arrested the spokesman of 64-youth movement for the spate of monument defacement (of course with no legitimate evidence). And, yet here they continue. Jewish groups are most likely the culprit of this and others – they want to draw attention to themselves.
