Two staff members of the Eotvos Karoly Public Policy Institute have turned to Hungary’s Constitutional Court with a request to annul a legal provision which allows the counter-terrorism force TEK to gather information secretly with ministerial permission.
In a complaint presented to the court, Beatrix Vissy and Mate Daniel Szabo argued that the provision violates their constitutional rights if secret surveillance is licensed by a minister rather than a judge.
This regulation violates “our constitutional right to the protection of our private and family life, home, relations and good reputation, as well as our personal data,” the institute quoted them as saying on its website.
