Amnesty International Hungary will support Saturday’s Budapest Pride parade and its representatives will attend the event, the organisation said.
AI Hungary said on Tuesday it hoped the police would secure the right of participants to assemble and guarantee their free speech.
AI said in a statement that the festival is a “worthy celebration of diversity, tolerance and the fight for equal rights.”
The 17th Budapest Pride film and cultural festival started on Sunday.
It aims to present the diversity of Hungary’s LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex) community. The traditional parade will be held as part of the festival on Saturday.
