Prime Minister Viktor Orban greeted in a letter former Socialist head of government Gyula Horn, who will turn 80 on Thursday, the PM’s press chief told MTI on Wednesday.
All public leaders are obliged to pay tribute to the achievements of their predecessors, since the nation cannot be promoted without cooperation between consecutive generations, Bertalan Havasi quoted Orban’s letter.
“First of all we are Hungarians and we work towards prosperity of the nation based on our faith and the best of our knowledge. Therefore there are more links than divisions between us,” the letter said.
Horn was prime minister of Hungary from 1994 to 1998. He has been in hospital with serious health problems since 2007.
