Quotable: László Kövér on foreign economic “shadow powers”

“They were agents of economic shadow powers, their Hungarian lieutenants and representatives [who tried to weaken Hungary], against whom the state has a duty to protect Hungarian communities, businesses and citizens.”

Speaker of Parliament László Kövér in an interview with public television MTV, expanding on earlier comments he made about what he is calling a foreign "loser coup" against the Hungarian government. Commenting on a demonstration by opposition MPs at the headquarters of controversial, Fidesz-linked construction company Közgép, Kövér said the activists "would at last like to get themselves beaten up" to show "a dictatorship is raging in this country." A dictatorship IS raging in this country. The good thing is that wannabe dictator has the brain of Bozo the Clown, so the only people who should be worried are the Hungarians because it’s their country, economy and tax money.

  • Observation

    Koltay is apparently Viktor’s designated paranoid schizophrenic. The bogey man is gonna get Koltay.

  • Zoltan

    If you would know Koltay, you would know that he will get the boogeyman first.

  • Igazi Magyar

    Hungary should be a proud country. I’m tired of people like László Kövér trying to blame EVERY problem on other people. People like him never take responsibility for their own actions, and always try to find some sort of bogeyman. And if the Hungarian government is so wonderful, why can’t it do a better power dealing with these agents of economic shadow powers? Does this quote mean that Kövér admits that he is incapable of any influence on the outside world?

    Magyars are proud. That’s why we have no problem with admitting to the reality that there indeed are elements within Hungary that seek to gain profit from it at the people’s own expense. Lots of countries have to deal with this issue, and to discount it or brand it as a conspiracy in the internet age is just silly.

      To hell with politics!
      Magyars are also proud of their mineral waters, fantastic dogs, agricultural contributions (for example Syringa josika, excellent grazing grasses) animal husbandry, the Hungarian Partridge, a few unique wines, fine cuisine like soups both hot and cold[summer] and desserts, beautiful and well dressed women and one of the best public transportation systems in the world to name a few things.
      To hell with politics!

        @Ma,

        Wow! After reading that post…I wish I were a Hungarian…oh…hold on a sec…I am!

        Would I get disqualified for finding cold soup positively disgusting?

        • Leto. مؤدّب

          I hope that doesn’t apply to “gyümölcsleves” (fruit soup)
          , the only soup which must be served cold. :p

            @Leto,

            Sure does…YUK!

          • Leto. مؤدّب

            Nothing beats a good cold fruit soup for lunch on a hot summer day… Maybe you don’t know what you’re missing out on… :p

        • Ma Jar

          Get married to a good Hungarian woman – a good Hungarian woman and you’ll have plenty of choices for good cold soups. By the way, justasking, I wish I were a Hungarian – for I’m not but am envious of these very capable people!

          • …justasking

            @Ma,

            ‘Get married to a good Hungarian woman’

            Yeah, wouldn’t be able to do that one…1) I’m already married and 2) I’m not gay. :)
