Fidesz rejects Jobbik proposal to classify criminals according to race

The Fidesz caucus yesterday rejected a Jobbik proposal to keep racial records of criminals, calling it unacceptable.

The far-right party suggested classifying criminals into six races, based on colour.

Jobbik MP Ádám Mirkóczki is withdrawing his bill on the racist classification and registry of criminals, because he will file a more elaborated one, Jobbik MP László Zakó announced on Thursday.

    Interesting, the FBI in the United States keeps records based on race since the 1930s. Why should these kind of stats not be allowed in Hungary? If there really is a problem in one “community” the stats can identify it and then a solution can be sought. By hiding the facts or not allowing the problem to be known, officials are just trying to sweep the problem under the mat.

    Maybe because the US have a history of Apartheid?

    It is an ‘European Thing’ not to allow registration on race

    So, as a US-citizen, can you pls share your waste experience of these 80 years of stats how they improved the situation in the US?

      The apartheid in USA ended 44 years ago. Is it not odd that you still have race track in USA 2012 then?

      I guess Hungary is a more civilized country than USA.

      Actually race stats is a european thing if you may be forgotten the third reich?

      I wanna ask you what the hell you do in Hungary if you hate the people and culture so much just leave the country, people like you make bad name of foreigners.

        And *that* is the reason why reluctance to “race stats is a european thing”…(listen to the sound of the coin falling down….)

        If you did not know it, Sweden had the most developed concept for race biology in the beginning of the 1900s
        Something a certain Mr A Hilter and his friends were very happy with and used that vast information accumulated to build up the Nazi-German race-biology universities faster

        Pls point out where I referred to Hungary in any bad way and/or “people like you make bad name of foreigners”

      There are a few examples of the use of racial statistics for positive outcomes or at least have the potential to move towards positive outcomes.

      Racial statistics have revealed disparities in sentencing. Blacks and Hispanics tend to have longer sentences for any given crime compared to whites. Remedies to this disparity have included mandatory sentencing for a given crime. Other remedies that have been suggested are racial balancing of juries.

      The highest level of sentencing disparities tend to occur for drug offenses. A large promotion of young blacks are imprisoned for minor possession of pot. Many states have moved to decriminalize pot possession.

      Racial stats have also revealed high levels of racial profiling in some areas. Federal laws against profiling are then enforced to remedy this imbalance.

      NY city had an issue with profiling. A recent update has found that this problem has diminished considerably.

      All this said, I have no doubt that Jobbik does not intend to use racial stats for any positive outcomes.

        Agreed, many things can be used in different directions, good or bad

        As being a boring technician I tend to be more interested in the criteria when defining these things as ‘belonging to a race’

        In the US there has been a certain degree of ‘inter-racial integration’, so actually *who* decides in the US that a black is black and not white enough to be white?
        Or vice versa, is it enough that one of your Grand-Mothers were certified Black and then you will also be Black (of course I am referring to a certain Hungarian MEP)
        Or is it to your own choosing?

    Actually Viking, ” aparthied” in the USA, the seperate but equal doctrine was present in deep South states only and blacks voted with their feet and migrated to Northern states and got good industrial jobs. They faced the same types of challenges all poor immigrants faced.
    Every major US city in the North had black neighborhoods with black owned businesses.
    If you do not track race in statistics, you can not even prove discrimination exists and it can not be remedied.Europe seems to do much worse than us ignorant Americans assimilating their immigrants.
    I like your posts Viking but dont be guilty of blind liberalism the way the Jobbiks blindly follow their right wing wack job philosophy.

    Btw, hulyek, tracking data on poverty , race and crime did help formulate government policy aimed at easing the problem. Any of you guys heard of Kennedy or Lyndon Johnson? Sweden better do it or it will become an Islamic republic of welfare recipients.

    When it comes to Affirmative Action, you’re black.

    Who needs gypsy self government when they are just like the rest of us?
    I watched the basketball game the other day, USA vs. Nigeria. I could not see a single white player on either side. Why is that? \White man can’t jump\? Genetics override political correctness when it comes to discriminating against white folks?
    What about tall people and short people? If you can describe an offender as tall or short, you may offend one or the other group they belong to. It will be really difficult to find the bad guys if all you can tell about them that they are average. Of course it may offend average people.
