Hungary said seeking “donation” of military helicopters from US

Hungary’s defense minister, Csaba Hende, went to see Defense Secretary Leon Panetta at the Pentagon today and won praise for his tiny Central European nation’s contributions in Afghanistan and elsewhere in the world. A spokesman, though, said Hende didn’t raise another issue he discussed in an exclusive interview with AOL Defense. Former Warsaw Pact member Hungary, a NATO member since 1999, needs to replace some old Russian-made helicopters, and the Marine Corps has 24 “excess defense article” UH-1N Hueys that Hende thinks would do nicely.

“This would be a donation,” Hende said in the interview, speaking through an interpreter in an interview conducted Thursday before he went to Joint Base Andrews outside Washington to look over Marine and Air Force configurations of the Hueys and take a ride in one.

Add some nuclear bombs in the package, and you got a deal.

I am sure the world would love it if Orbán sat on a stockpile of nukes, it would certainly give us some leverage against the EU.

Of course they are seeking a donation! I hope the US says NO! They seem to have a problem with the west as well as north america but when they want a hand out they are not afraid to mooch a few freebees from them whenever they can!

“Everyone is pulling out from Afghanistan, we are putting in,” Hende said.

Hungary should rather pull out of that damn country, too.

      Ceterum censeo MSZP delendum est.

Sorry, I didn’t mean this as a reply.

No, let’s put more and more Hungarian soldiers there. If they get killed by friendly fire, great. If they get killed by the locals, even better. We need Hungarian heroes and this will serve our cause.

My dream is that we can unite 2 million people in the streets of Budapest or Miskolc for a Peace March to celebrate the greatness of Fidesz and all the brave Hungarian soldiers that were killed to protect the Western Civilization from the Islam.

2 million people marching in the Szechenyi Istvan ut will take 16.5 hours. In my opinion, Budapest would be a much better location for a new Peace March.

In deciding matters of such importance, Feher Gyorgy always hit the nail on the head. 16.5 hours! – who else would have had such insight? Welcome back, George – we missed you.

Here I agree 100% with you. Don’t take the choppers either, those Hueys are Vietnam era death traps.
