Far-left party removes “communist” from name in wake of red star ban

The non-parliamentary Hungarian Communist Workers’ Party has renamed itself the Hungarian Workers’ Party, the organisation told MTI on Sunday.

The decision, motivated by recently approved legislation, was made at the 25th, extraordinary congress of the party on Saturday.

The party condemned the European Union’s attack on Hungary and called for a public debate to start on Hungary’s EU membership.

“The Hungarian constitution can be a matter of disputes here at home but it is unacceptable that the EU regularly interferes in Hungary’s life … The time is ripe for a public debate to start about Hungary’s EU membership,” the party said.

What a dummy. All he has to do is make it an orange star and OV lets them into the club. OV gets a token nationalist left wing too. Win-win baby.

“The Hungarian constitution can be a matter of disputes here at home but
it is unacceptable that the EU regularly interferes in Hungary’s life”

That may be only thing I agree with them.

“The time is ripe for a public debate to start about Hungary’s EU membership”

It’s not ripe yet. But it’s ripening.

Let the 2014 be the Election over the EU – Hungary stays in or out
Every political party should make a clear declaration what they want to do and then let the voters decide!

      Will we see that happen?
No, because Fidesz will never go to an Election with a “We Want Out Of EU”-slogan, it is more like “We Want More EU-money”…
