Court suspends case of war crimes suspect Csatary

A Budapest hihger court on Monday suspended the case proceedings of Nazi-era suspect Laszlo Csatary, MTI News Centre learnt.

The court said Csatary had already been sentenced for the crimes included in the proceedings, in former Czechoslovakia in 1948. The court added it needed to be established whether the 1948 ruling, a death sentence changed to life imprisonment later, could be valid in Hungary and under what circumstances could Csatary (98), a police commander of the internment camp of Kassa (now Kosice in Slovakia), serve the sentence.

The prosecutor’s office, however, said that the earlier ruling could not hinder the start of the case.

    Sentenced by 1948 Czechoslovakia?

Are we suppose to take their justice as fair?

In 1948, Czechoslovakia was extreminating their German population and running them over with tractors.

“In 1948, Czechoslovakia was extreminating their German population and running them over with tractors.”

      You forget Hungarians too.

      • Leto مرب

I think Csatary should run for office. Possibly with Orban or with Matolcsy.

        • Thomas Buterbaugh

Interestingly troll. You have over 100 posts with nothing but childish trolling. No contribution whatsoever to any topic other than banal inanities.God knows how many sockpuppets you are using. • szebbjovot

Thomas you are right. You are the only Hungarian on this forum who has racist views that are similar to mine. Where did you grow up? Alabama? Your hatred is refreshing.

          • Thomas Buterbaugh

What gives you the idea that my views are ‘racist similar to’ yours? As for my ‘refreshing hatred’.Where did you pull that from? The only ‘hatred’ I have are for the boring and tiresome trolls on this board. And for the umpteenth time,I am NOT Hungarian.I’m from Tennessee but now live in Hungary.I have been here over five years now and the weed is good.

          • Hungarian

Last year I went on business to Tennessee. The Capitol of country music.
Great laid back friendly people. And very patriotic like Hungarians!

          • Daniel

Tennessee? Hungary could use more southerners, I am not kidding. Tell all the good ol’ boys Hungary still has some sanity left, unlike the States.

        Loser!

          Fucking Jew!

    • MagyarViking

“Are we suppose to take their justice as fair?”

As fair as the Hungarian Supreme Court in March 6, 2006, regarded the Hungarian Gendarme Kristóf László correct in killing anti-Nazi resistance fighter Ságvári Endre in Budapest, July 27, 1944

If Hungarian Gendarmes can act according to Hungarian Law, while Hungary was occupied by Nazi-Germany, Chechoslovakian Law must be OK 1948, while occupied by the Soviets, or should we apply the typical Hungarian Double Standard?

      • Thomas Buterbaugh

Stop trolling Viking. You are using the same argument in this thread…http://www.politics.hu/20130707/hungary-signs-holocaust-compensation-deal-amid-controversy/

As for your claim of ‘double standards’ and typically from you, against the Hungarians,if anyone is applying double standards ,then it is the laws founded on the Nuremburg trials wherein ‘war crimes’ became the new ‘catch all’ for prosecuting those that served in/with the Axis powers.Under the articles of the Geneva conventions, people who are armed, not in a uniform of any recognised army are deemed to be terrorists/partisans and under the articles of war,can be executed on the spot.

Besides which Viking, gendarmes are not the police. They are paramilitary and technically speaking, have wider powers than the police insofar that they can arrest military personnel and/or execute terrorists/partisans.

        • Leto مرب

Butterball stop these arguments in broken English. Pick a Hungarian forum if you can’t do English. You are clearly struggling. No logic or grammar.

          • Tibi

            Fucking Jew!

        • MagyarViking

“You are using the same argument”
Since when can you not repeat an argument?
Unlike you I did not sign any ‘I am not allowed to repeat myself’
On the other hand you are repeating your complaint about me repeating my argumentation…

“if anyone is applying double standards ,then it is the laws founded on the Nuremburg trials”

Not sure where the Double Standard-argument comes in here, but agreable the Nürnberg-trials were based on retroactive laws, something that is Not Good(tm)
And that is why, from 1947 we have an ever better international and national laws eliminating the need to use retroactive laws

What have your argument of rights of Gendarmes to do with the question *who* they were serving – The by the Nazi occupied Hungarian State, or the Nazi Occupiers?
In one sentence Hungary should not be blamed for the transport and killing of several hundred thousand Jews and Roma, then Hungary was under occupation, on the other hand Hungarian Gendarmes under Nazi occupation handled according to Hungarian Law by killing anti-Nazi resistance fighters….
It is a bit eating and keeping the moral cake

      • Sándor Rózsa

        Sagvari was a great man.

    • Janos

      You are mistaken my friend.

  • Leto مرب

He is a very handsome man. What is it with these Fidesz guys that we all find irresistible?

    • Hungarian

      He is a beautiful man…

    • Janos

      I don’t think he is Fidesz…

    • Hungaro

      Troll.

      • Sándor Rózsa

You don’t think of him as Fidesz? Then why is the police protecting him? A favor for Jobbik?

        • Hungaro

My opinion is that they are not protecting him. Why do you think that they are protecting him, what could they possibly be gaining by protecting a 98 year old?

          • Sándor Rózsa

Saw a number of articles about members of the international press trying to interview this hideous man and the police immediately showed up, went upstairs and calmed the old skeleton.

          • Oszi

            fucking jew!

          • Sándor Rózsa

He is not Jewish, quite the opposite. Even though he is a hideous nazi he doesn’t deserve your name-calling. He has family members in the current government.

          • Sándor Rózsa

I forgot. It’s also a huge favor for Jobbik.

      • szebbjovot

At least you are upfront about it Hungaro. Do you know what the word “hungaro” means in the Spanish speaking world. Are you a minority rights activist?

        • Hungaro

Hungaro means hungarian. I consider that national minority rights are to be respected. But there is a limit to that when a minority is harmful for the nation. Are you a minority rights activist?

          • Hungarian

            Good point about harmful minority.
By simple logic they want the opposite what the majority wants therefore they are harmful for the majority.
And in any descent country the majority rulz!

  • Hungarian

Leave alone this 98 year old old man.
He is a victim of a bloody history.
    Fuck off blood hungry Jews!

    • Sándor Rózsa

      He is a monster!

      • Hungarian

You are a thousand time more monstrous than he ever was.
You even go after a hundred year old who can hardly bread.

  • Hungarian

I’m worried if he’ll find a lover in jail. He is too frail.

    • Hungarian

Fuck you nick stealing Jew. Your people are thieves that’s what you prove. You steal land to make it your own kibbutz, you steal other nation’s government and even fucking nicks.
You are proving here that you can only survive even by intellectually if you can keep stealing.
Now I am going to post this same message until you stop stealing.
      Fuck you thief..

  • TheNews

I wouldn’t go to Slovakia to be jailed for a ruling in a trial I wasn’t present for. Csatary was in Canada before the trial occurred. He didn’t know it was going on. I’m all for re-opening the case based on current evidence if we must prosecute. But, I would rather save the Hungarian money and just let Csatary go. Lots of bad things happened in the war, we can’t go back and find everyone. What a waste to prosecute this “small fish” (to quote László Karsai, a Hungarian Holocaust historian). Plenty of us lost family members in wars. Soldiers and civilians, what death is not an atrocity to their family members?
