Austro-Hungarian monarchy model for reforming EU, says pro-gov’t activist group

austro-hungarian-eu

The Austro-Hungarian monarchy provides a potential model for how the EU might reform itself, wrote the leadership of the pro-government activist group the Civil Unity Forum (CÖF) in an official statement on their website last Friday.

The CÖF explained that in the time of the monarchy, outside of foreign, military and financial affairs, Hungary had total independence and that a similar arrangement might be beneficial with regards to the EU.

The statement was published a day after one of the organization’s founders, Tamás Fricz, first raised the theme at a press conference in Budapest, drawing some public criticism as a result. The CÖF acknowledged that historical baggage might render the monarchy an unappealing template, but wrote that the suggestion was mainly meant to stimulate discussion and reflection on the future direction of the EU.

Fricz argued that the cause of the current crisis in the EU relates to the organization’s lack of democracy and sense of identity, along with its “gigantic” bureaucracy. [hvg.hu]

Fricz is absolutely right. The current crisis in the EU is caused by a lack of democracy and gigantic bureaucracy. It’s about time that they understand in Brussels that there’s only one country that is doing better… Glorious Hungary!

    • Hungarian

      Fuck you too Jewish trash!

    • wolfi

So Orbán will be king of Hungary and Emperor of Europe!

      Fantastic!

PS: “outside of foreign, military and financial affairs, Hungary had total independence” is a fantastic sentence – what does it mean? Which affairs remained?

      • Vidra

It meant that priests, schoolteachers and career politicians could make impressive speeches in Parliament, then as now. It also included areas such as policing, health and education, which are pretty much untouched by the EU’s hand

        • Angela Bogaczy

The EU is not legislating directly in essential-service areas such as policing, health and education. It is, however, pushing on us a sewerage-cartload of perversions in the name of ‘human rights’. That pollutes education and policing, undermining both, and handing fake-left fifth-columnists a cudgel they can swing around insanely.

          • Vidra

Wrong target. This human rights nonsense started back in the 90s with the council of Europe and the ECHR, back in the days when Hungary wanted to be rehabilitated into ‘free’ Europe. Unfortunately you seem to have jumped offthat bus

          • just saying

If Hungarians agree with you, then I’m sure Hungary will leave the EU before the EU gives up on enforcing human rights. I will miss being in the EU, but at least we Hungarians will see what our “independence” brings us. I should start brushing up on my Russian!

      • Hungarian

        no, no, no!
The king of Hungary is Erik!
        He controls who comments here!

        • Angela Bogaczy

Well, he cannot ban the woflisjustaskingsviktorzorbansfuriousgeorgeshavelaarsvikingsingrids (sorry if I missed a few), for then there would be no-one to disrupt the conversation on this blog of Hungarian patriots. Also, the apparent role of the just-listed is to jeer obscenely enough about us and Hungary to make one of us (often you) slap one down. Then comes deletion. Soon enough, the patriot gets fed up and leaves. Oh, well: it’s his blog. But I tell you, if you are locked out, I shall leave. And I hope every decent patriot will too. Then the just-listed will cease to have a role. (Imagine those half-wits conversing together!)

          • wolfi

            Good riddance!

          • Hungarian

            Then fuck off Erik’s dog!

          • Angela Bogaczy

Drop dead, fat ugly old STASI jew.

          • Justanobservation

HAHAHAHAHA! A simpleton you are………what a pathetic loser too!!!!

          • Hungarian

            Sorry fake blonde asshole.

        • wolfi

There are so many sites on Hungary’s politics (some even in Hungarian …) where you can comment – surely leto will welcome you, Angela and the other Tiszta Magyar with open arms. If not you can start your own blog …

Btw a Hun blog would be better for you because your English stinks – to put it mildly …

          • Hungarian

Would you stand a chance with your extremely low iq on such blogs?
I have a confession to make.
I post some of my answers straight from a Japanese onsenn if you know what that is while you are probably biting your nail what to reply!

        • Angela Bogaczy

PS: Actually, I have had enough of skinny-dipping in this kosher sewer. See you elsewhere, I hope, chum. Farewell. And please say bye bye to szebbjovot from me. 🙂

            Sayonara…..”……….. (_@.@_)

          • Justanobservation

            Hasta la vista!

          • Hungarian

Hasta la vista means “see you again”.
Sayonara is used for not seeing someone again.
So get some education before you start using foreign languages justanonsense!

          • just saying

Ah, a final anti-Semitic swipe before you go. That’s the perfect way to remember you!

      • vikra

During the few laste decades of Austria-hungary, Hungarians had independence to impose hungarian language all over hungarian led parts of the country, and they had independence to torture other non-hungarian nations. That kind of “independence” ignited hungarian nationalism and eventually led to dissolution of the country and the treaty of Trianon. What we can see now is the rise of Hungarian nationalism which wouldn’t be so dangerous if it doesn’t happen during the rise of russian neonazis which are supported by mini-Putin Orban.
Anyway, if we talk about Austria-Hungary proposed by Franz Ferdinand and Charles IV, then the proposal would be interesting and acceptable, but if we talk about Austria-hungary of Franz Joseph, Khuen Hedervary and Lajos Kossuth, there will be much more opponents than only me.

  • Ingrid

I agree , Hungary should have total independence and no money at all from EU.
The EU money spend on Hungary could be spent better elsewhere.

    • Hungarian

Spent on Hungary not spend on hungary.
Second, how much money did you personally pay to Hungary you ugly bitch?

      • Ingrid

A lot of my tax money from my home country goes to Hungary.

        • Hungarian

Well, I still did not get an answer.
How much did you pay to Hungary?

Ps: fucking asshole Erik. Keep banning me you hate factory. I will make sure to return your favor you jewish shit!;)

          • Ingrid

“How much did you pay to Hungary?”
Do think that is a clever question?
Some of my tax money goes to Hungary and as I don’t earn my money in Hungary but spend a lot of money here , 27% of my spendings goes the the Hungarian state as VAT.

          • Hungarian

            A) You pay taxes either way.
            B) what your country decides to use your tax money is not upto Hungary!
            C) you elect your fucking government who decides how to use your fucking tax money
            D) why did you join the EU on the first place if you keep whinning about it?
            E) what the fuck are you doing in Hungary if you keep bitching about it?

          • Ingrid

            D) We joined EU in the seventies and until 2003 I was very positive about EU, but then it took a wrong turn and within a very short period of time too many countries which were not ready for EU, became members.

            E) I am not bitching about Hungary, but i criticize Fidesz for what they are doing to Hungary and the Hungarians.
I criticize the government in my own country when I think they are wrong, I think that is quite normal everywhere.
I have lived in China, Hong Kong and Ukraine for some time and try to guess if I liked their leading politicians.
You can actually live in countries without agreeing with the government of those countries.

          • Hungarian

            E) when Hungary joined (one of the unready country which made you dislike the EU) maszop was on power!
Did you criticize them too or were they perfect!?

        • Angela Bogaczy

Your home country? But that exists on other countries’ tax money.

          • Ingrid

Surely not. My home country pays much more to EU than it receives and we are able to take care of our own people besides spending a lot of money supporting poor countries around the world.
Democracy, transparency, human rights and freedom of speech is very important in my home country, as in most other western countries.

    • After Hungary’s leaving EU, we should definitely expel hostile libnazi foreigners like you or wolfi.

    • Angela Bogaczy

That sounds fine, so long as some part of that money is spent on accommodating your ilk elsewhere. Come to think of it, don’t wait. Go now. Bon voyage.

  • wolfi

At first I thought i’s the current heat wave that makes some people here behave even more lunatic – but then I realised that most of them don’t even live here, so maybe it’s a new kind of virus?

PS: We had 36 degrees Celsius on our terrace today so spent most of the time indoors after switching on the A/C.

  • AnneNonymous

I am surprised to learn that COF is proposing that Hungary give up control and turn it over to the EU its foreign policy, defense policy and financial policy, as it did in the much lamented and poorly understood Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
