Contested appointee declines ambassador to Italy role

Peter Szentmihalyi Szabo, whom the government has recently appointed Hungary’s ambassador to Italy, has told the foreign ministry that he “does not wish to fill any ambassadorial position”.

The ministry said in a statement on Friday that Hungary’s new ambassadors will take their posts by the middle of September.

Several opposition parties have voiced objections against Szentmihalyi Szabo’s appointment.

The leftist Democratic Coalition (DK) appealed to the Italian foreign minister to refuse approval to the appointment, and referred to the appointee’s associations with radical nationalists.

Didn’t they ask him before appointing him?

And what made him change his mind?

In a way it’s funny to see the stupidity of the Fidesz government so blatantly displayed …

Of course they asked him. The Foreign Ministry looked delighted with his appointment. They must be quite humiliated now.

      You are such a simpleton.
You just don’t understand hungarian politics do you?

Yes, I have to admit that I don’t understand psychopaths like you (and several others on this site …) and the Fidesz loonies in government …

You’re so just too far from the rest of the world …
