Hungary to take down controversial Soros posters – Politico.eu

Hungary’s government will take down controversial posters featuring U.S. financier George Soros, Hungarian online news portal Index reported Wednesday.

The government of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has faced heavy criticism for posting thousands of billboards around the country featuring Soros’ picture and the slogan “Let’s not let Soros have the last laugh.”

Some of the billboards were quickly defaced with anti-Semitic graffiti, adding to worries among Orbán’s critics and within the Hungarian Jewish community that the government is fanning the flames of xenophobia in a country where anti-Jewish conspiracies have a long history.
